SIL ELECTRONICS -TAL-S {12. by Sahko Recordings)
KIRLIAN- PROZELLANGASSE GROOVES PART 1 {12. by Sahko Recordings)

After a silent period of more then one year, finally two new releases by the
Finnish label Sahko. Maybe you remember our enthusiasm about their former
releases, which all seemed to blend house music with industrial music, yet in a
minimal way. These two new ones, by two new names, continue this line. Kirlian’s
12. is more linked to house music, but then a very empty one. Side 1 has a bass
drum to it, with austere electronics. Side B is also a long the same lines
{placing Kirlian next to that other Finnish band whose C was called Metri {and
whose name I can’t type here. ..) and panasonic Kirlian is quite different. The
first track (‘V7’) opens with the sound of a scratch and slowly by slowly the
track is built with strange sounds, in a rhythmical way, but apparently no real
computer, synths etc. The construction of the track is slowly done, letting each
new sound time to penetrate in your head. The other two tracks {‘ve’ and ‘Re’)
are in similiar fashion, the last one being the most housy one (but even then to
very extent) .Strange stuff, but fashinating stuff too. Let’s hope it doesn’t
take Sahko another year or so to release another one. Address: Sahko-

TESENDALO -NATUR NAHT (LP by White Noise)

Tesendalo kicks around for more then 8 years, and has released many cassettes,
on his own Prion Tapes, but also on other labels. Recently he changed his style
more and more to long layered pieces of synthesizer music, with additional
outdoor recordings. Let’s not try to avoid the the dreaded A word here! Unlike
many of what is sold a ambient, this is true ambient, creating an atmosphere,
space, in a relatively minimal setting. If this was on Fax there would no doubt
no trouble in selling this, but it isn’t. The LP itself is packed in a cover
made of hay (well, or so it seems) and looks great. As far as I know this is his
second LP, and soon a third one is to come (in the Korm Plastics Ambient Series)
.As said: get this while copies last. Address: White Noise

MONO JUNK -GLOOM (CD by Dum Records DUM TRAX (CD by Dum Records)

Dum is a label that is also from Helsinki, and happen to be friends of Sahko, so
(naturally?) the profit from the attention Sahko gets. Some see Dum as a sister
label, but it isn’t. Dum Trax collects several previous 12″s (5 tracks) with 5
unreleased pieces. The first track is probably the best example why Dum is
different from Sahko, as this is quite mellow house music, in the best German
tradition (like Toxictracks) .Other tracks, such as by Detroit Diesel, are more
up tempo house music, or acide house (Melody Boy 2000) .In all this is a wide
variety of dance music, without the variety being too big to make it annoying.
Mono Junk is Kim Rapatti and he has several 12″s so far (all on Dum) .His music
is along the lines of Sahko stuff. Minimal stuff that built slowly to it’s
height. Some of the possibilities Soundscapes may have. Address:

TETSUO INOUE -SLOW AND LOW (CD by Fax)

Releasing so many CD’s. ..it’s hard to tell the difference between each new Fax
CD and the one from last week. Tetsuo’s CD’s for Fax stood out from many others,
as being much more intelligent and experimental ambient on this label. This new
one opens even noisy, with experiments with radio. Also, as an introduction to
the third track, we can hear a distorted guitar. In general much of this CD are
long droning pieces of moody music. Again a fine work by Tetsuo. Address: fax: +

ORIGAMI ARKTIKA DEATHPROD -3LOGY PT3 (CD by dBut)

This is not the first time I come across the Norwegian Origami stuff, and I am
always puzzled by it. Their work deals with CDos, mail art, cassette only
releases. Part of this CD was recorded in Slovakia. The first track is a guitar
like drone with a spoken text of a not very positive nature. The second track is
short (only 6 minutes or so) and is again drone like, possibly with guitars
again. More drones on the third and final track, with strange, far away voices
and guitar plucking. Later on in the piece, a voice recites texts again, drones
come like sea waves. ..heavy drumming enters. The subject matter of this CD is
very unclear to me. The music has an improvising, live character. Not bad, maybe
a bit too dark and at times gothic like for my taste. .. Address: Origami –
